Policies
Here is a summary of key policies; however, if you wish to view any other policies when your child starts at the nursery, please speak with the manager, who will be happy to help.
-
Our policy supports the procedures set out by North Tyneside Safeguarding Team. Kinder Castle will ensure that all appointed staff have a Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS), and 2 suitable references will be sought upon appointment of their role. All staff will be appropriately trained in safeguarding and this is updated on a regular basis. All staff are made aware of the correct procedures to follow if there are any issues or concerns with any child within our care. Any adult can contact The Front Door with regards to any child they may have concerns over. The contact number is: 0345 2000 109
-
Kinder Castle operates an open door policy where we welcome parents to give feedback and suggestions about the service we provide. We work in partnership with parents so that any concerns can be addressed and resolved promptly. Please feel free to speak to any member of staff or any member of the leadership team.
-
We must be made aware if your child will not be attending nursery. This may be done in advance if you have booked a holiday or if your child is ill or not attending for that day we must be notified by 10am. If we have no communication then a member of the leadership team will contact parents.
-
Our aim is to provide an inclusive environment for the developmental needs of each child in all areas of learning. We welcome external professionals into the setting to provide a consistent approach to children’s learning and development.
If your child requires additional support we can access this through a number of different channels. We will liaise with other professionals such as speech and language therapist, health visitors, educational psychologist and local SEND. At all times we will speak with parents if we have any concerns before we contact any other professional to discuss your child. Parents are involved at all stages of the process.
-
The use of mobile phones within the premises is strictly prohibited to safeguard the children. If a call must be taken by a parent/carer/visitor, this must be in a designated area, such as the office or outside of the premises. Staff all have a designated space in the office to store their mobile phones.
-
The importance of continuity between home and nursery cannot be overstressed. We believe that our relationship with parents/carers is vitally important. We want parents to be fully involved in their child’s care and education, and we welcome and encourage parents/carers feedback. We ask that parents keep us informed of any changes that may have an impact on your child at nursery.
-
The Nursery will provide a nutritious, healthy and balanced daily diet for all children. An alternative menu will be provided for any dietary requirements. Children will be encouraged to eat and sample new foods. Parents are responsible for keeping the nursery informed of any allergies their child may have. All mealtimes are supervised and children are always within sight and hearing of an adult. There will always be a paediatric first aider present at meal times. At registration parents will be asked about their child’s food and what stage they are at with feeding.
-
Only medication which has been prescribed by a Doctor, Nurse, Pharmacist or Dentist can be administrated by a senior member of staff. Medication should be handed to a member of staff when the child is dropped off and should not be left in their bags. Medication must have the child’s name clearly marked with the sticker from the pharmacy/ hospital with the dosage on. We cannot give medication unless this is visible. All medication must be signed through a medication form with the parent signature on the form. No medication put in drinks or food will be given to a child.
Children who are prescribed antibiotics must be kept off nursery for 24 hours.
-
Please do not bring your child into nursery if they are unwell. All children should be well enough to manage with a normal nursery day. Parents/carers will be contacted if a child appears to become unwell during the day. Any child who has sickness or diarrhoea will be excluded for a minimum of 48 hours after the last bout. The nursery should be notified by the parent of any illness, so other parents can be informed. Communicable diseases such as chicken pox is exclusion for 7 days or until all spots have scabbed and crusted over. If in doubt, please contact the nursery and speak to the manager or email at office@kinder-castle.co.uk
